CORE

CORE Processing Facility

Rare Waste Core is the hyperlocal engine of the Rare Waste network, designed to receive unsorted municipal, commercial, construction and difficult-to-recycle waste close to where it is produced. Each modular Core facility will process up to five tons per hour, with every additional module increasing capacity by another five tons per hour. Incoming material is shredded and conditioned into consistent feedstock before moving through controlled thermal stages that recover energy, separate bulk metals and concentrate complex materials for advanced processing at Element.

Core does far more than reduce the volume of waste. Organic and carbonaceous materials are converted into thermal energy and synthesis gas, while metals, mineral fractions and other recoverable materials are directed into dedicated output streams. Conditioned syngas is recirculated into the thermal process, used to generate electricity and steam, or upgraded into a standardized process fuel. Electricity supports Core’s operations, supplies nearby industrial users and connects to the local power network through existing substations.

Core is the primary carbon-management point within the Rare Waste system. Process gases remain inside a controlled recirculation and treatment loop where particulates, moisture, acid gases, sulfur compounds, trace metals and carbon dioxide are progressively separated. Combustible gases are returned to the thermal stages for further conversion, while concentrated CO₂ is captured as a distinct stream for mineralization, industrial use or permanent storage. Carbon management occurs where the carbon is generated, eliminating the need for Element to repeat Core’s bulk gas-treatment process.

High-pressure steam cleaning, filtration, gas conditioning and continuous monitoring protect the process loop and produce controlled, measurable outputs rather than untreated exhaust. Engineered pressure relief, startup and shutdown controls, emergency containment and permitted safety systems protect the facility under abnormal conditions. During routine operation, untreated process gas is not released and process water is not discharged uncontrolled.

Core handles the volume. Core recovers the energy. Core captures the carbon and concentrates the value. Instead of hauling local waste long distances and paying to bury its potential, communities will process it close to where it is generated and convert it into electricity, reusable materials and concentrated urban ore ready for Element.

No more distant hauling. No more buried value. Core converts waste into local energy and materials.
